Creatures of the Deep
In recent years strange sea creatures have washed up to shore dead. Some of these are believed to be prehistoric animals while others are thought to be very old large versions of present life forms. I wonder what creatures are at the bottom of the ocean where the pressure is so great it crushes metal. As our technology expanse we will be able to dive deeper and uncover the secrets of these dark abysses. What will we find?

Mythical Beasts
We have all read a story or two were the hero either fought or was helped by mythical creatures. Many of these creatures are very similar to normal animals. The Pegasus, a winged horse, seems to have possibly existed along with the unicorn, dragon, and especially the Giant Sea Serpents. These creatures could have existed in some form or fashion but I doubt that they would have existed as we see them today. Were mythical beasts real at some point or does man have an extremely good imagination?

P.E. Classes
Recently a friend brought to my attention a query that has been right under my nose.
Several important people want to end childhood obesity so the pass legislature and change the cafeteria food standards and encourage physical activity but leave it up to the individual. I wonder why they don't make it mandatory to have a P.E. class every year so that students are physically active 5 days out of the week. This class would help fight obesity better because many people won't exercise unless they are told to.

High School Relationships
The stereotypical high-school student is a confused hormonal being in and out of loads of relationships. Last semester I heard that boy-friend, girl-friend relationships are very stressful. Since I have not and will not be in this kind of relationship in high-school I asked, "If relationships are stressful in high-school, why do you continue to be in one?"
To me it makes sense to only date the person you plan to marry. I wonder why people are compelled to be in many relationships (boy-friend, girl-friend) when they have no intention of marrying that person. Doing this only hurts both people.

Color Perception
In my freshman science class we discussed color and how the eye sees it. During class I had a query that has always given me cause to wonder.
Are the colors that I see the same as the colors that others see? In preschool and kindergarten we learn the names of colors so we all recognize the same name. I wonder if what I see as red is what you see as blue. I wonder if we call a color the same name but see it differently.

Aztec Calender
Many of the Latin American natives constructed many amazing structures such as sun temples that reflect light to make an image. Of all of these structures, the most intriguing is the Aztec Calender.
The recent movie 2012 depicts the end of the world predicted by the Aztec Calender. I wonder how the Aztecs were able to "predict" the end of the world. Even with today's technology we cannot predict such an event. For this reason, I don't believe the world will end in 2012 (it could), but you do have to wonder, "What would I do if I knew the world was about to end?"

Language Transformation
I know this is the second post related to English, but this blog is an assignment for an awesome English class.
In class we talked about the Anglo-Saxons and how their language sounded very different from ours, and how it morphed into the language we all speek and write today. I wonder what our language will be like 100 years from today. With all of the texting lingo and slang our English will most likely form into a type of "Newspeak" So when Walt Disney rizes from his cryogenic freeze to rule the world no one will know what he is saying. His movies will be the historical records that teach scientists about the life of Lions and royalty but linguists will be the only ones to understand their meaning. Sad New World

Sci-Fi Technology
I have always heard that a lot of new technologies come from futuristic movies and TV shows. The Starfleet Space Dock, for example, could be an inspiration for the International Space Station. Another example is C3PO for years engineers have worked to get a human like robot fully functional.
If this statement is true than I will want to be alive to enroll in Starfleet or something similar so that I can use a ray gun or Phazer and travel faster than the speed of light. I don't know about you but I wonder how awesome the future could be.

Why is English so hard to learn?
Have you ever wondered how English can be so confusing to foreigners trying to learn how to speak and write it? Here are a few reasons I have thought of:
- Our phonics does not make sense. Ex. we spell "was" w-a-s when it sounds like w-u-z why not change the spelling
- We have several homonyms such as "to, too, and two"
- There are so many rules for placing a coma. These rules can intimidate even the bravest linguist.
- And of course the all confusing phrases "Driveway" and "Parkway". You park in a driveway and drive in a parkway
I guess I kind of understand why so many immigrants have trouble speaking English.

Star Time
Stars are several lightyears away. Each star is so far from another that they are sometimes barely visible. The amount of time it takes for light from one star to reach Earth is several years.
Have you ever thought that the stars we see today might not actually exist anymore. They could have collapsed but because the light takes so long to get here we don't know it. We see light from ancient times.

Truth
Have you ever wondered what truth really is? We all assume its meaning and we all tend to be able to discern truth, but what is it. Some say that truth is relative while some say there is no such thing as absolute truth.
How do we know the truth about truth?
How do we know the truth about truth?

Smoking Breaks
Have you ever wondered why smokers get smoking breaks and non-smokers get no breaks?
What is your opinion? Should smokers have smoking breaks?
